Hi

Please can someone assist me in locating the settings in group policy to allow our support staff to access a event viewer on a remote machine

Currently when you launch Event Viewer and connect to another computer it get the following error :

Unable to connect to computer "xxxxxx". There error was

The network path was not found

However, I can type in \\xxxxxx\c$ and connect to the machine fine. This leads me to believe that one of our GPOs is prevent access to it, even though the error indicates I'm unable to connect to it

Thanks in advance

James.

Try the IP address of the target computer to see if that makes a difference
and make sure you can ping it by fully qualified domain name. I think that
the remote registry service needs to be running also in case that has been
disabled. --- Steve

Many thanks. I discovered the joys of the Remote Registry service. It was set to manual on all our machines and happily starts up when you view the registry locally but not remotely
