Friends PC - Running XP SP1 (it's an SP1 install, not an
upgrade).
Can't connect to the internet either through my ADSL USB
Modem (PPPoA) or a normal 56K modem.
Error 720: Registering your computer name ......
Event Log contains
Event ID 20103 - Unable to load iprtmgr.dll (data - 20 00
00 00)
Event ID 7024 - Remote Access terminated - error code 2
(0x2).
The connection was working 3 days ago, then one of his
kids installed some software - (P2P stuff I think), which
his dad subsequently removed, and now can't get a
connection.
Have tried the following with no joy.
Removed all network adapters and modems and let PnP find
them again.
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt - this contains some BAD
Value entries.
Removed and re-added the network connection for both ADSL
and modem.
Did an XP repair install.
I tried to search for Event ID 20103 on Microsoft's site,
but they don't associate it with Windows XP
Windows 2000 suggestions are to uninstall and reinstall
TCPIP, but you can't do that on XP (I think).
Also other suggestions are that their may be a binding
problem - How can I find out and fix if this is the case.
Can anyonee help?
