When I remote to a 2000 Server that runs an application 24/7, it does not
show on the desktop or toolbar as it does on the server so I can't confirm
the application is running. Is there some other settings on the server or my
desktop I need to change? Thanks

Hello, Kansas

The application that is supposed to run on the server probably runs on the
`console` of the server. Windows 2003 server supports remote clients
attaching to console session, while windows 2000 doesn't. If this is an
administrative account you use for connecting to your Windows 2000 server,
you can use task manager (check the `show processes from all users checkbox)
to verify that the app is "running", however, you cannot verify if it is
really running, or the application process is active and showing you a `fatal
crash` message.

One way of solving it, is to start your application when connected via RDC.
Do not logoff but disconnect. That way, when you reconnect you would be able
to see your application.
