Remote Web Site Properties won't update

Hi,

I'm trying to publish a very simple website (one page, text only) to my
server. My server is a Windows Server 2003 SP2 machine with the FP
extentions installed. My local machine is a Windows XP workstation cabled to
the Server (through a router). I'm logged into the domain as the system
administrator.

I fill out the Remote Web Site Properties dialog box (using the option a
server with FrontPage or Sharepoint Services), but when I hit OK, the program
does nothing. No error messages, no hourglass cursor, no nothing. The
program never shows the "from / to" screen where you select which documents
to update. I have to cancel the Remote Web Site dialog box to get rid of it.

I'm trying to publish the site to Inetpubs/wwwroot on the Server, but I've
also tried publishing it to a sub-folder under that directory. wwwroot is
set up as a shared folder, and I've added my UserId to the permissions list
for wwwroot with full permission to the folder. I've also tried it with full
permission set for Everyone. I can navigate to the folder on the remote
machine using the Browse option for the Remote Web Site location. Same
result.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

You shouldn't publish to the disc based location "Inetpubs/wwwroot" but to the server based location represented by IIS for that
folder http://localhost
- or else publish it to a real disc based web - say C:\mywwebname

Do you mean I should publish to <DomainName>/<IIS Virtual Folder Name>

And also, since I'm signed into the LAN, I assume that <DomainName> is my AD
DomainName not the InterNet Domain. Right?

Try Machine name
http://yourpcname/thesubwebname/
