I am trying to access my xp professional computer from the
remote web connection. I tried connecting with my laptop
on my router and it worked. I can't access it anywhere
else outside of my router over the net. I was thinking I
have a set IP address for my cable modem and I have
another IP address for my router. How do I go about
setting up the remote web connection to get by both IP
addresses to read or any other method. I also assigned a
port, but everything works with my router IP address when
I am connected on my router from another port, of course I
am connecting over the internet with it. Thanks

If your router has a firewall, you may have to either set
up port forwarding, set up your XP Pro computer as
a "dimilitarized zone", or disable the firewall
altogether. I use a Linksys Router and use the DMZ Host
option in the setup page to host internet games on my XP
Pro computer.

You need to forward TCP Port 80 (IIS) and TCP Port 3389
(RDP) through your router to the private LAN IP of the
PC. Call using the public IP of the router, ie. the IP
assigned by your ISP.

You need to forward ports 3389 and 80 through the router to the target
machine IP. Then, connect using the public IP (24.xxx.xxx.xxx). Also,
Check with your ISP to make sure they don't have port 80 blocked

From over the internet, you only use 1 IP address - the public IP
address (the one your cable modem has). You use this both for the web
connection URL and the server name (leave it blank first and then put
it in if you need it ).

Try to avoid this type of situation, though, whenever possible due to
the security implications. For Remote Desktop, just forward TCP Port
3389 and TCP Port 80 for the Web Client.
