What is the best practice for remote user's logging into
our win2k AD domain to change their domain password?
Tried having users change password in webmail, also while
connected via VPN.... its seems that there are issues
with the password in AD matching what is stored in the
local computer's cache. Thanks.

Hello Stephen.

This is a common issue if the users logon to their remote clients with
cached domain credentials and are then prompted to change their password.
We can only update the cached credentials during initial log on. So, if the
user is already logged on locally with cached credentials and dials a
connection that changes their password, they will continue to pass their
cached credentials to resources through the connection.

The best option is to configure the clients to "Log on using dial-up
networking" when logging onto the clients. This will cause the client to
dial the network connection (or VPN connection), pass their current
password, get prompted to change the password, accept the new password, and
update the client's credentials cache.
