We are losing the war against viruses, spyware, worms, browser hijacks, etc
:-(

I'm being asked to fly out to one of our overseas offices to help clean them
up.

Given that I don't really know what to find there in the way of Internet
connection speeds etc, I'm looking to make up a toolkit of things to take
with me.

Ideally I'd have a bootable CD that I could take 20 copies of, stick them in
all the PCs and then go sit on the beach while the various utilities on the
disk cleaned up the machines in a fully automated fashion.

I guess I'm being far too idealistic here but what realistically should I be
able to take with me ?

Corporate antivirus solution is Trend but although it is identifying loads
of stuff its not doing a great cleanup job......

All suggestions greatfully recieived !!

Thanks.

An image file of a clean system.

When you get there;
Back up the data,
load the image,
import the data,
have a nice meal on your expense account ,
and return home to accolades for your foresight.

What?
No image?
shame on you,
hurry and get that resume updated. ;-)

Moral of story:
If you can't or don't plan ahead,
then plan to be replaced by someone who will.

Ideally, you would be living in Germany and have bought a PC magazine,
called c't, issue 20/04, that would provide a CDrom with the
Knoppicillin system on it. Ideally, you would boot the pcs into a
command line Linux with it, open the menu, start F-Secure, Kaspersky or
Sophos, fetch the update via internet, and scan.

But I can't find a download source for this thing. Some say, it is the
work of an editor of said magazine, and he would not offer any download
for this cdrom.
