I am having a few programs with the remote registry
service. I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP1. The
problem is, I can't even see a remote registry option in
services. What's wrong? Is there a way to fix it? If so,
how can I fix it?

This service is not available in XP Home Edition. See

That's odd. It says the process names is svchost.exe. I
opened up my task manager and looked at the process list.
I see a svchost.exe in there a few times.

Those are probably normal instances of system processes.

However, there are times when that program name is used by a virus, or when
one of these system processes takes up large amounts of CPU time, this can
also indicate a virus.

Have you scanned your machine with current antivirus definitions?

Why are you concerned about these processes?

A lot of services are run out of svchost.exe... Take a look at
http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBJ/tip4600/rh4660.htm to see a bigger listing
of services using svchost.exe
