Remote Procedure Call

Can any one tell me what a remote procedure call is?
At least twice a day a message comes up on my screen
telling me to save my woke that the system must reboot
due to an unexpected remote procedure call. and gives me
about a minut to save my work and then reboots its self,
and there is no way I can stop it.
Thak you in advance for what help you can give me in
salveing this problem.
