Remote Procedure Call

I've had my Windows XP computer for two years, yet for
the first time, I'm now getting a warning message, saying
that the "Remote Procedure Call (RPC) terminated
unexpectedly." It gives me a one-minute countdown to get
out of all my programs before it automatically restarts
the computer. My question: Where did this new warning
message come from? I haven't reconfigured my computer or
downloaded anything, so why is it suddenly doing this and
what can I do to get it to go back to the way it was?
