After connecting to the internet a dialogue box appears
and tells me windows must restart.
The message reads, "Remote Procedure Call" "R P C" service
terminated unexpectedly windows must shut down.
What is the cause of this and how do I fix it?

Thank you,
A Busby.

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

You have an unwelcome visitor known as the WM32 Blaster/Lovsan worm.
It entered your computer through your internet connection because the "firewall"
was not properly enabled and essential critical updates were not installed from
the Windows Update website. For instructions on fixing the problem, visit:

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_msblast.htm and follow
the instructions.

After fixing the problem, visit the following web sites:

Last, but not least, consider purchasing and installing a comprehensive
internet security package, such as:

Norton Internet Security 2003
http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/nis_pe/

-- Includes Norton AntiVirus 2003
-- Includes Norton Personal Firewall
-- Automatically updates itself
-- Includes prevention of annoying web pop-ups
-- Includes Parental Controls
-- All in one, easy-to-install & manage package

Hi A Busby,
You have the latest virus from the internet....thats the
bad news...
The good news is that it is easily fixable. Here's how.....

1)Go to www.tinyurl.com/ir5h and download that file to
your desktop.
2)then execute that program (from your new desktop icon).
3)Reboot your pc.
4)Now update your windows from Microsoft.

I hope this will be of some help. If not call 1-800-HP-
INVENT . This line is only for HP computers only. Go to
www.help.rr.com if that doesnt help.
Good luck!!!
