remote procedure call on XP

I keep getting a shutdown message when I am on the I-net
that gives me 60 sec. to shut down. The error message is
Remote Procedur Call. Can any one help me??

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first
installed the KB824146 Hotfix, without having first installed an
antivirus application with current virus definition files, and before
enabling a firewall, you're very likely to get infected from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.

This happened to me not long after setting up XP. I rang

my isp and they told me it was a worm and so it was. It
was the W32.Welchia Worm which only xp users. My advice
is download the patch for this worm from Symantic and
also set up a firewall if you have not already got one.
If you do not have virus software get it!!! and download
the live updates, if you are infected you may have to do
this in sections to work around the shutdown. There is
also another worm which has a similar worm and that is
W32.Blaster Worm.
