Good morning,
I have Windows XP, and a Dial-up Internet connection.
Whenever I connect to the Internet, after a certain period
of time, I receive an error message stating that a "system
shut down has been initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM", and
that "Windows must restart because the Remote Procedure
Call (RPC) was terminated unexpectedly". The error
message gives me a 60 second countdown, and reboots my
system.
I contacted my Internet provider, who suggested that a fix
could be found on www.microsoft.com, or using the Windows
Update tool. BUT, I cannot log onto the Internet for long
enough to download any of the Updates! I have usually
enough time to start downloading one update and start
installing it before my computer reboots.
I cannot think of what else to do, since I cannot identify
which Update I should be downloading.
PLEASE, can anyone help me identify which Update I need to
install? Is there an alternate way of getting this
update?
Thanks for your help,
Gordon
