remote mount drive via ftp

Is there a way in XP and 2000 to mount a drive to a drive
letter locally from a remote ftp server? It shows up in a
separate heading in Explorer, but I seem to be limited
to 'copy' only. I need to assign it a letter. Seems like
it would be trivial to include in the fs driver, is it
there and I'm missing it?

Please email response to me too - this is a big
newsgroup ;-)

Thanks, Skip

No - FTP doesn't have certain functions (lock region, random access, etc)
that the fs driver would need. FTP is designed to transfer whole files.
Because the Internet can be a little unreliable, it has some capability to
continue an interrupted transfer, but at heart, it is for transferring a
whole file at one go. Network file shares, on the other hand, require
random access to any byte in the file.
