I'm trying to set up remote mail in Outlook 2003
i've defined groups but under the Accounts column the Remote Mail option
isn't there

please help, i'm running out of hair ;o)

Sorry

in the office they connect to an exchange 2003 server, but out and about
need to compile emails, to be sent back over dialup/vpn

cached exchange mode is too slow, trying to sync all subfolders

i want the 'Remote Mail' option under Accounts on Define Send/Rcv groups

thanks in advance

I don't know what you mean by "the Accounts column." I see two places to
configure Remote Mail -- in the properties dialog for the account, on the
Remote Mail tab, and on the Send/Receive group dialog, for the Remote Mail
account.

That's exactly what I mean Sue, the Send recieve Dialog for the Remote Mail
account ( accounts column-Remote mail) Isn't there so every connect tries to
sync the whole inbox ( which has 7000+ emails and many subfolders. Altthough
i've de-selected them all, sync over dialup isn't happening, user travels
away on friday and my boss is on my case - also MS support seem as confused
as you ;o) apologies for not making it clear

But what about the Exchange account properties? Did you try setting it
there? What about creating a new profile?

Yes, i've checked and unchecked every single option i can think of, or see.
I'd like to be able to find out why I don't have a Remote Mail account so
that I can turn it on. Offline files and storage is fine, just the Remote
Mail part.

I have a few screen shots that it may be useful if I could send you to help
clarify ???

Did you try creating a new profile? Feel free to post screen shots to a web
site and put the links in your message, but I don't think they're really
necessary. Your description has been quite detailed.

Sue

thanks for your time and effort in this, it appears that Microsoft in their
infinite wisdom have decided to remove the Remote Mail functionality of
Exchange2003 server, in favour of RPCoverHTTP and download headers ( a *much*
more long winded way of doing things )

So until they decide it was useful, or enough people make that suggestion,
it's longwinded and temperamental or nothing

Maybe they just decree that ll remote users should be on dsl or equivalent,
and don't realise that not all countries have decent telecom structures for
visitors. Some dont even have GPRS let alone 3G or wireless hotspots

Again
many thanks

mark
