Hi All.

Is it at all possible to remotely login a user to a windows XP machine
at the physical terminal? Say the system admin wants to remotely log in
a user into their own PC so they don't have to give a username and
password to the user or have to walk over to the console to enter the
credentials, is there any way to do that?

Thanks.

I have never heard of a way to do that and it seems to be an odd request.
You can however enable autologon if there is a need to do that though that
can be a significant security risk in most situations. If a user forgets
their password you can reset it so that they then can logon giving them the
new password though the user account should be configured to require the
password to be changed at next logon. --- Steve

There are plenty of remote-control apps that directly control the console -
see www.tightvnc.com for one.

http://www.dameware.com/products/dmrc/ - not free but a little more
features.

Once you log in, you close your remote session and return control to the
user.

You can also try this- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278845/ (for Server
2003, not sure how it would work on XP. Usually Remote Desktop to XP gives
you a separate session.)
