I
Ian Hinson
I have two computers networked.
The primary computer does Internet Connection Sharing, so it has 2 NICs and
2 IP addresses. This has IP addresses of 168.192.0.1 and 144.132.xx.xx
The secondary computer has IP address 168.192.0.2
I have ZoneAlarm on the secondary computer.
(I know this may be "technically" unnecessary since that computer is not
directly connected to the internet, and the primary computer is firewalled
also.)
Now ZoneAlarm on the secondary computer is telling me that the first
computer is trying to access its Port 139 using the 144.132.xx.xx address
That IP clearly is the same as the internet IP being used by the sharing
computer.
Shouldn't all communication by the first computer to the second use IP
168.192.0.1?
This never happenned with a similar setup when the primary computer was
using Win98SE+ICS
I expected the 144.132.xx.xx address should not be used locally at all.
(By the way, the 2 network connections on the primary computer (XP) are not
bridged.)
Is this common behaviour for an XP computer doing internet connection
sharing?
Are there some settings I should look at?
Thanks, Ian.
