thanks,

Here's my plan:
I have a spare computer with xp and all my MP3s on it. I
have a bunch of
different players installed (music match, win amp, wmp
9). The computer is
hidden in the house with wires leading to the stereo that
feeds music
throughout. There is a wireless antenna to connect to
the network.

Everything works great when I have a monitor, keyboard,
and mouse.

When I remote desktop into the computer, it says there is
no sound driver
installed on the computer and it will not play music...
no matter which
player I use (which makes sense if there is no driver).

My goal is to control the music in my house/ outside on
my deck/ back yard
with my ppc. I can terminal service into all the
computers in the house but
none will play music (all normally play).

Is there any way to enable these drivers in XP so I can
play music on the
local box (I don't want the sound on the pda speaker).

I'm basically turning my pda into a fancy remote control
for the music in
the house.

Cool idea I thought. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

This is a known bug slated to be fixed in SP2...

The workaround is to start Media Player (or other program that
"captures" the sound card) before you connect via Remote Desktop
(i.e., leave it running). If you do this, you should be able to get
sound to work.
