Remote Desktop will work through the firewall as long as TCP Port 3389 is forwarded/opened to the
private LAN IP of the target PC. If you mean a DHCP assigned IP on the private LAN, then it will
work. Note however that if the target PC reboots/restarts and grabs a different IP from your DHCP
server then the port forwarding setup in the firewall will direct the RDP data to a different PC,
which obviously is not desirable...Static private LAN IP addresses solve that problem very
well...
If you mean the firewall has a DHCP assigned IP from the ISP, then there are ways to get around that
issue. Look at using one of the dynamic DNS services that map an alias, usually of your choice, to
the IP address. Then you would call using the alias. I use a FREE service from No-IP.com for this.

Note that you can also run Remote Desktop through a VPN tunnel...if you have that available...
