Hi all,
in my Windows XP Pro SP2 pc I am the only user and when I do not use "logon"
with password but it's automatically done (control userpasswords2). My wife
can with Remote Desktop, connect to her PC at the office.

In Vista the same procedure is not accepted, and we got message saying more
or less:
"the user cannot log in the remote PC because of Terminal Service
restriction, policy group" and so on

She is not a user in my PC but in XP we could ctreate a remote desktop
connection to her server and then to the PC using the IP adress.

Now it cannot on Vista.. and I'm getting crazy to find a solution.
Can you please help.. we do not wnat/need several accounts and I'm
"administrator" on the PC with UAC deisabled

Regards

When you logon to the remote computer specify the user in the following
format

domain\user

where domain is the NETBIOS domain name of the work network and user is her
user name. (e.g if the work domain is mycompany.local and her user name is
(e-mail address removed) you would use mycompany\shirleyb)

If her work network is not a active directory domain then use the work
computer name instead of the domain name as in

computername\user

Sorry, i am not that good and need a more simplified answer..

I open a remote desktop connection to the server in her offfice let's say I
type an IP address: xx.xxx.xxx.xxx
After this a new logon window for Windows Server 2003 opens and here I type:
her username
her password
domain
After I do so, the following text appears:
"to logon this remote computer you must be granted the Allow log on through
Terminal Service rights. By default member of the remote desktop user group
have this right. If you are not a member of the remote desktop user group or
another group who has this right, or if the remote dsktop user groupd does
not have this right, then you have to be granted this rights manually.

Here I'm stuck and I cannot find out how to do it.
In XP was much much easier. I need a very idiot proof guide :-) step by step
method.
I can use a PC but I'm not an great expert.
Thanks in advance

In the box where you specify the user name type "domain\username".
Substitute the actual domain name and user name.

Hi Kerry, thanks for the answer, but it does not work.
I do not understand.. either I'm doing something wrong or the
machine I try to reach cannot communicate with Vista.
I'm lost and need a very "detailed" guide..
I hope you can help
