The PC you want to remotely access/control with Remote Desktop must be
running XP Pro or be a Windows 2003/2000 Server running Terminal Server.

Does the Media Center version of Windows XP qualify as Pro? So if I get a
new computer at home that is Media Center, can I set up remote access with
the XP Pro machine at my office?
Thanks, Jeannine

Yes - Media Center is Pro +.
You can use Remote Desktop with Windows XP Media Center Edition.
