Can someone give me step by step instructions on how to
setup remote desktop between two machines both using WinXp
Pro using dynamic IPs?

I have an XP box at my office, and we subscribe to SBC's
DSL service using a Dynamic IP. I would like to be able to
access it from home, where I also have an XP box, and dsl
service with a Dynamic IP.

In my office, the XP box is hooked up to a win2k server,
which is connected to a linksys dsl router.

I'm not too experienced with over the internet
connections, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to enable remote access on an XP machine
To enable remote access on an XP computer, go to the properties of my
computer>remote, check Remote assistance if you want to send and invite to
some one by msn or email, and check the Remote desktop to allow users
remotely to access this computer. You may want to add users by clicking
Select Remote Users if the user will use the different logon ID.

On the Windows XP CD, under \SUPPORT\TOOLS you'll find a file called
MSRDPCLI.exe. This file contains the setup for the Terminal Client Software
(Remote Desktop Connection, or MSTSC.exe) for Windows 9x/2000 computers. You
can run this file to install the new terminal services client to perform
Remote Control to your Windows XP Professional computers (And Windows
terminal services servers) from Windows 95/98.
Once installed you can find it under, Program files>> Accessories>>
Communications.

First, make sure that you can use RDP to your XP box from on the LAN - this
will let you know that that portion is working properly.

More than likely your Linksys DSL router is NAT'ing your private IP address
range behind the dynamic public IP address. On the Linksys you will need to
port forward port 3389 to the private IP address of your PC.

When you are working from home you then use the RDP client to connect to the
public dynamic IP address of your Linksys router. Because this address is
dynamic its subject to change and you may therefore have a bit of trouble.
