I've been trying to connect a (work) xp machine to a (home) Vista machine
through remote desktop. I have tried everthing and nothing seems to work. The
home computer has a static ip and the work computer is on the company's
network. Does anyone know the complete steps to take to get this to work? Do
I need to be logged off the host (home) computer? What about the domains?

When enabling the RDC, try to select Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop. Does that fix the problem? if not, can you telnet port 3389?
