I have just set up a home network and I was hoping to
access all of the three PC's from my windows 2000 server
using remote desktop or dameware remote control. I can
connect to my WIN2K Pro machine no problem but for the
life of me I cannot connect to my two Windows XP home
machines. I keep getting ask for passwords yet I have set
none up. I have disabled all firewalls and the like and
enable remote assistance. Will an upgrade to professional
cure this problem ? Or is there some obscure setting that
I need to change.

There is no problem using the XP home machines to connect
to non-XP machines.

I anyone can give me some tips I would be grateful.

Well, first off you can *NOT* use Remote Desktop to access/control XP Home machines. An alternative
is UltraVNC. Get the server, client and a
encryption plug-in from...

http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/
http://home.comcast.net/~msrc4plugin/

Encryption is very important over the public internet. An alternative is running UltraVNC (without
the encryption plug-in) through a VPN tunnel.
