I am trying to use ***.***.***.***:**** with the stars
representing my (ip address : port number) and it Remote
Desktop Web Connection says that "An invalid Server Name
was Specified". It acts as if I am not able to add the
port number. How would I address this?

I tried doing it in this fashion and it was still saying the same thing.
This is a computer at work, is it possible that they are stopping me from
using this somehow?

Dave Marden

Yes, if the port is blocked to incoming traffic. Check with your network administrators about
that... Have you tried this internally on the network first to make sure it works?

Yes everything seems to work fine on the local area
network, but I haven't tried it from outside of my
router. Which is to say that I haven't had any reason
outside of work to try this out.
