Hi I'm trying to setup Remote Desktop Web Connection I
have managed to install Remote Desktop Web Connection
software, but am not able to connect to my other computer
through the internet which is at my office, which is not
on any network expect internet . is it possible to
connect to it my Remote Desktop Web Connection using the
ineternet?

Can anyone help.

Yes...Open "Help and Support" and search on 'remote desktop', without the quotes, for the process.
Calling over the public internet, use the public IP of the target PC. If the target PC is behind a
firewall/NAT/router make sure both TCP Port 80 (IIS) and TCP Port 3389 (RDP) are forwarded/opened to
the private LAN IP of the target PC. Keep in mind that some ISPs block TCP Port 80.

Well, the question is did you look at the "Help and Support" pages. There is a lot of information on
how to both install and connect with RD Web.
Then, are you calling the correct public IP?
What error message(s) and/or symptoms do you get when you try to connect?
Does the normal Remote Desktop connection work, ie. not the web based method?

If you can't connect using the RD client then the web based method will *NOT* work. Try this telnet
test to see if you can determine if the remote PC is listening as advertised...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q187628

If it fails you are either calling the wrong IP or RD is not listening on the remote PC.

Also, can you ping the remote PC?

You should use the syntax

telnet <YourOfficePCAddress> 3389

Example:

telnet 12.34.56.78 3389

If you get a "Connect failed" message your calling the wrong IP address or Remote Desktop is not
running on the remote PC or TCP Port 3389 is blocked.

Is your office PC on a LAN of any sort?
If not, how does your office PC connect to the internet?

What type of broadband connection? If its DSL some DSL modems are also routers. If that's the case
the DSL modem/router may be blocking TCP Port 3389. Contact your ISP for help with that.

The port is typically blocked by a hardware or software router or by
your ISP.
