Forgive me if this has already been asked and answered, but I haven'
been able to find someone with my specific problem.
I'm trying to set up Remote Desktop Web Connection. I'm running XP Pr
and I have a DSL with no router. My problem is that when I enter th
URL on a remote computer, I get a "cannot find server" message. If
enter it on my computer, I do get to the Remote Desktop logon page (bu
of course can't actually log on since it's the same machine).
After reading various help files and a couple of articles o
Microsoft.com, I've:
(1) In System/Remote, checked "Allow Users to Connect Remotely to thi
computer."
(2) Under Internet Information Services, installed Remote Desktop We
Connection
(3) In the Internet Information Services console, opened default we
site/tsweb and enabled Anonymous Access (I don't need to do anythin
with the username used for anonymous access, do I?).
(4) Checked "Remote Desktop" in the Advanced/Firewall setting of my DS
connection.
(5)Bought a host name for my dynamic IP address from ConstantTime.co
and installed and turned on their dynamic DNS client.
(6)Typed http://myaddress.org/tsweb into my browser.
And gotten nothing. I also tried looking up my actual IP address an
putting that into the URL. No dice.
Am I missing something? Each set of instructions seems to leave out on
of these steps, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's another one
don't know about.
Thanks in advance.
