I have enabled remote desktop web connection and am having trouble accesing my machine remotly.

I can use the standard remote desktop across my network to gain control no problem.

When testing from within my network using the local IP address, I can get to the
Remote desktop web connection start page -- but no further.

No matter what server name user name or password I just get a graphic symble( not able to display graphic I think)
and blank page. I have tryied this on 2 host machines with the same result.

I assume that getting that page displayed says I have gotten to the machine.

I am trying to test within my wirless (D-link) network before I take on the firewall in my router.

Any sugestions? MS docs not too clear and some did not work at all during install.

Thanks
Bob

Its possible you did not complete the installation of Remote Desktop web services... From Bill
Sanderson, MS-MVP, from awhile back...

**********************************
IIS isn't included in the default install. If you install IIS, one optional piece is support for
Remote Desktop Web Connection. This is buried two "details" buttons deep, inside World Wide Web
Service, which is inside IIS. All this is in add/remove programs, add/remove windows components.

If you select Remote Desktop Web Connection, you'll get a /tsweb directory under IIS, and it'll have
connect.asp in it.

**********************************

Otherwise, to test over your local LAN, use the local private LAN IP of the IIS server. You can
*NOT* test using the public IP of any firewall/NAT/router devices. Make sure TCP Port 80 (IIS), in
addition to TCP Port 3389 (RDP), is forwarded through any firewall/NAT/router devices. Be aware some
ISPs block TCP Port 80 because it violates the user agreement about running servers...

That's a pretty old reply of mine, and lists files which aren't there
anymore after SP1.

I think I'd go for removing IIS and reinstalling it, checking to be sure
that the Remote Desktop Web Connection is set to install.

Clearly IIS is there, and there's something at the /tsweb/ location--but
there's definitely a problem.
