Remote Desktop vs. Remote Desktop Web

I am wondering what the difference really is between the two? Both require
port forwarding of port 3389. So why would I use Remote Desktop Web Access
instead of just using the regular Remote Desktop client? If, for instance, a
remote location (hospital, hotel room, etc...) had port 3389 blocked for some
reason, neither would work as they both require this port - if they didn't
have it blocked, regular Remote Desktop should work so why would I use the
web client?

Remote Desktop Web Connection loads the Remote Desktop client within a
browser. The Remote Desktop Web Connection is a perfect solution for
connecting to your home or office PC when you can't install the Remote
Desktop client software on a computer.

(Ever tried to connect to your computer without the client on a Windows 9x
machine?)

That depends greatly by what you mean...

However - as you are running everything *in a browser* with the Web
connection version of Remote Desktop - your best performance would be the
actual client - which is dedicated to doing what it does - unlike when you
use the browser for it.
 
Sorry, I meant from a connection reliability point of view. I am
having some connection dropouts, explained in another thread of mine
"Linksys BEFSR41...." dated 8/1/07. As I recently recalled, however,
the problem only started when the target server was changed from a
Windows 2000 Server SP4 machine to a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2
machine.
