Remote Desktop Vista Ultimate to XP Home

Hi, can I RDP from my Vista machine to an XP machine (and use the XP OS and
software on the other machine)? Most of my software doesnt work on Vista.

Or can I do it with an Ubuntu machine?

All on same network.
 
If it is Xp Home, the answer is no. However, you may want to try VNC. This link may help,

To add to Bob's comments, if the home PC is running XP Pro then make sure
the Vista RDP client is configured like this...
