Remote Desktop Server on Windows XP Home Edition

I purchased Windows XP Home Edition some time ago and
have a number of applications set up on my machine. Now
that I've learned about Remote Desktop, I would very much
like to be able to use it, so I can access my main PC
remotely. Is there any way to purchase the server part
of Remote Desktop for XP-Home Edition, or is there a way
to upgrade to XP-Pro without having to re-install all of
my applications?

Thanks in advance!

An upgrade install of Pro won't require reinstalling applications, or at
least none that I've ever heard of.

<caveat> unless things go horribly wrong </caveat>
<caveat> backup everything important to you BEFORE upgrading </caveat>

It wrote over the registry for me so the programs themselves didn't get
deleted but I had to reinstall them anyway.

Almost done now.....
