remote desktop over the internet

I have a router at home. what do i need to do to remote
desktop from work. do i have to put in port forwarding,
and if so what port do i use. also, from work how would i
login... i'm guessing something like my wan IP\port\home
pc name. thanks in advance

Forward Port 3389 to the machine IP of the comp you need to connect to.

When yo use RD. Just log into teh Public IP that your ISP gives you.
Port forwarding will send the packets to the machine you set up to
receive them.

If you have more then one machine behind the router that you wish to
connect to, read MS knowledge Base article Q306759 on port redirection.
