I have a router box at home, and some computers behind it.
I had everything configured correctly, and it all worked
fine until one day I couldn't connect to the pc behind the
router. I can connect to the router box just fine. I
can't even connect to the lan pc from within the network.
I know the settings are good and RD is enabled, cause it
just decided to stop working... i dunno, i'm at a loss.

What error do you get when you try to connect?
Perhaps some config changed on the router? Have you checked to insure TCP
port 3389 is open?

Has the private IP of the machine behind the router changed? Compare the
actual IP address (start, run, cmd <enter> ipconfig <enter> exit <enter>)
with the IP address in the forwarding or virtual server setup in the router.

i have the same problem and setup..........remote desktop
worked then stopped working. i have checked the ip and
still cannot connect to the remote computer.....3389 is
enabled etc..........the computer has connection to the
internet in that i have a routine thats sends the ip every
hour but still cant connect using remote desktop

any help??

The original repondent stated that he couldn't connect to the problem
machine even within the local area network.

Is this also true in your situation?

If you know the private Ip address of the machine on the lan and cannot
connect to Remote desktop, even though RD was working a short time ago, I
would look for a firewall installed on the RD host machine.

At a command prompt, try:

sc queryex termservice <enter>
and see whether the STATE is "RUNNING"
