Remote Desktop messes up windows positions when connecting to multi-monitor desktops

My server PC is a Windows Vista with 3 monitors. I've many open
applications on it.

When I connect to it via a single monitor client PC even using the
last Remote Desktop client 6.0 I always have various problems in
displaying the windows that are not on the central monitor of the
server because these windows often remains out of the visible screen.

Are there any programs that automatically manage this problem? I'm
sure they exist but I don't know how to find them...

I had the same problem,

There is a free remote access program called LogMeIn.com It looks like an
addon to RDS but it works a whole lot better. When you connect to your
multimonitor computer you get a button where you can select which monitor you
want to view.

If you are uncomfortabe with 'service' you can purchase the software they
call it remotelyanywhere and I am pretty sure it has the same functionality,
although I have never tried it. The do have a free demo available though
(it's available through the same link, just click products)

Vince, all the alternative programs I tried are slower than RDP
because they seem to use a video-hook driver that is less efficient
than the RDP method.

LogMeIn isn't an "addon" to RDS. It's an independent program.

Another disadvantage of LogMeIn is that it cost money and it requires
an EXE to be executed on the client machine.

I forgot to mention the main disadvantage of LogMeIn: it doesn't allow
to serve more than 1 concurrent session!

Oh well best of Luck to you.

If you do find a better solution, please send me an email to vpub (at)
thebrittons (dot) net. I use logmein (the free version) becuase of the
superior multimonitor support. The speed isn't an issue for me as my 256Mbit
upload isn't that great to begin with. Although I can't say that I ever
found it slow?

Vince
