Remote Desktop Issue

Hallo,

my image is build on SP2 FP2007 UR1 and I put the following components to my
configuration:

Terminal Server Client
Terminal Server Remote Desktop
Terminal Services
Terminal Services Client ActiveX Core
Terminal Services Core (Allow users to connect remotely to this computer =
checked)
Terminal Services Runtime
Terminal Services WMI Provider

The problem is, that I cannot connect to my target using RDP Client.
Firewall on target is deactivated. When I launch "control sysdm.cpl" I see
that "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" on the "Remote" Tab
isn't checked. If I check it and click "Apply" I get the Error message
"Cannot save settings in Registry".

What am I missing in my configuration?

Any help is very welcome

Hi Ethan,

yes I did. I've 2 users: Administrator and another one. For both there is a
password set and if I login locally it's all ok. Also I add the 2nd User to
the "Remote Desktop Users" group. If I try to make a RDP connection to the
target I get the error message, that the client cannot connect to the remote
computer. I don't get the login screen. BTW I can successfully ping the
target. It seems that the Remote Desktop on the target isn't enabled. It's
not possible to activate the appropriate check box in the configuration
dialog.

Hi Klaus,

So your situation is you even cannot get log-in screen form RDP client.
That's really strange~ RDP should be able to use as you add Terminal
Services macro. It includes "Windows Logon", "Terminal Server Remote
Desktop", "Terminal Services Core" and "TCP/IP Networking with Client For MS
Networks".

Yes, that's really strange for me also because I got RDP working fine in my
previous image. My "old" image was an SP2 image. Than I updatet my database
to FP2007, Update Rollup 1 and the security fixes from Oct. 2007 to insure,
that all my components are up to date. Then I upgraded my configuration in TD
and did some modifications on my image, like adding NET2 and SQL-Server
2005, MUI support and a few things. And now the RDP isn't working anymore on
my "new" image. That' bad and I don't know how to fix it. Seems that I've
something lost on my new image.
