when I try to connect from the XP system, the 2000 prof system says "The client could not connect to the remote computer
What do I need to do on the 2000 system to enable the remote services or terminal services

What do I need to do on the 2000 system to enable the remote services or
terminal services?

Upgrade it to windows XP professional, as windows 2000 pro does not
come with anything like remote desktop or terminal services.

since Windows 2000 pro doesn't come with remote desktop
or terminal services, if I upgrade to Windows 2000 server
edition, will it have it?
My computer is old and Windows XP runs very slow on it.
After I installed 2000, it runs much faster; the only
problem is that I can't connect from an XP machine to it.

My computer is old and Windows XP runs very slow on it.

After installing XP pro, rightclick "My computer", select properties, then
advanced.
Click performance settings, select "adjust for best performance". Then
enable the last 2 in the row.

That will fix the slow gui.

Then check the services, and put all you do not need on manual.

After this is done, your XP should perform even faster then win2k pro.

Alright I'll try that; I already tried it on my XP
machine and it did speed it up!
Thanks!

dcintron, have you read the thread? The poster wants to connect
*to* this machine, not *from*. You can't achieve that by
installing the rdp client.
So the first answer from Stefan, to upgrade to XP, is the first
option.

Since the clients is too old to run XP, NetMeeting could be
another option.
