When I use remote desktop from a Vista machine to a XP SP2 machine, I get
this error message:

"The remote computer cannot be identified because it is not set up to
support authentication.

Remote computer: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX

Do you want to connect to this computer anyway?"

If I click on "Yes" button, I still get connected into the XP SP2 machine.

When I remote from the XP SP2 machine to Vista beta 2, I don't encounter
this error. Both machines are joined to my office domain controller.

Hello,

This is caused by the new authentication support in the Vista-era Remote
Desktop Protocol. For now, only Vista machines support this new
authentication mechanism.

This is nothing to be worried about and is the expected behavior when
connecting to a Windows XP machine from Windows Vista.
