Remote Desktop for Administration

I installed a 2003 sp1 server ( Terminal Server ). I simply did not know
that the procedures had changed. I thought I was installing RDP for
administration on it. I have unistalled Terminal Services in add\remove
programs Windows compontents and checked the check box in the My computer
properties area. When I RD this machine it tells me that remote connections
might not be enabled. Is there any way I can enable RDP for administration
after having initially installed terminal server?

Did you reboot the server afterwards?
Anything in the EventLog?

Thank you for your response. I rebooted the server and the event logs do not
mention anything concerning my issue. When I open terminal services manager,
this machine does not automatically appear. Also, it does not show rdp-tcp
(listener) under it when expanded. I dont think its installed even though I
have the RDP box checked.

No, it seems that the server is not even listening on port 3389
(can you verify this with the command "netstat -a"?).

Try this: in Terminal Services Configuration, delete the existing
rdp-tcp connection (if it is there at all), and create a new one.

The server is not listening on port 3389 and I do not have to option to
create a rdp-tcp connection. There is no rdp-tcp connection on this box.
really don't know what to do. I have not read Microsoft stating that you
cannot switch back to RDP mode.

No, this is certainly not normal behaviour. It is normally no problem
at all to uninstall Terminal Services and enable Remote Desktop for
Administration.
Sorry, but I've no more ideas either. I would phone Microsoft
Support.
