Hi all

Im having problems Remote desktoping when ever i try and
connect it brings up the login screen which i log in and
starts to load but then chucks me out of remote desktop
all together and goes back to the orginal connection
window

i thought it might be a firewall problem but have tryed
switching it off.

any help i would be very gratefull

as its driving me mad

This is the same problem I'm having. RDP connects, shows the login screen,
allows me to login, but then logs me off immediately. This only happens if
I have not logged in to the machine previously. If I'm already logged in,
RDP connects and works fine.

There are two Events in the Event Viewer Application Log that looks like it corresponds to the times I attempted to RDP in

Source Useren
Event ID: 106
NT Authority/Syste
Windows ended GPO processing because the computer shut down or the user logged off

Source Useren
Event IDL 108
NT Authority/Syste
Windows cannot set the background refresh timer for Group Policy. WaitForMultipleObjects (The handle is invalid. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

Microsoft Knowledgebase lookups on both these events resulted in zero entries found.

I discovered that my issue was caused by the Nvidia Display Driver Service. If you have installed the lastest Nvidia Display Drivers setting this Service to Manual will allow you to RDP in normally.

That was my problem too.
Finally I can log into RDP again (now that I disabled Nvidia).
