My home machine and my lap top both use XP Home version.
I can't get Remote Desktop Connection to work. Is the XP
Pro version needed in order to utilize Remote Desktop
Connection?

Yes, you either need to upgrade to XP Pro (on one or both machines) or look at either NetMeeting
Remote Desktop Sharing (RDS) or UltraVNC. Both can provide an encrypted data link to allow you to do
what you want.

NetMeeting in built-in to XP and W2K and can *NOT* be upgraded. To start NetMeeting on an XP
platform go to "Start -> Run" and type conf at the command line to start the wizard. Look at this KB
article for additional help...

Please note that RDS is *NOT* compatible with XP Pro Remote Desktop.

Get the UltraVNC server/client software and encryption plug-in from...
