Sure, just use the New Connection Wizard to set up the daughter's PC to accept dial up connections. Then dial in from yours and after the connection is established, you can fire up RD.

Yes.

Go to control panel, network connections.

Create a new connection
advanced
incoming
Check off the modem as an incoming connection device.

(be aware--this will, when active, make the modem answer the phone in about
1 ring.)

If this isn't acceptable, it is possible to script turning this on and off.

be sure to have a user account with a password set up to use for remote
access.

At your location:

network connections, create a new connection
connect to the network at my workplace
dial-up
pick a name
daughter's phone number

double click on the connection you have created. Put in a username and
password that are valid on your daughter's machine.

You should dial, handshake (staticy sound) and then connect and authenticate
(exchange username/password)

Once authenticated, you'll see a new "computer screens" icon in the
notification area in the lower right. Right click that, chose status, then
details. Note the "server ip address" This should be the IP address of
your daughter's end of the connection.

Run Remote Desktop connection, and put in the server ip address from the
above step.

You should get a login prompt--use the same username password you just used
for the dialup connection, and you should see the desktop associated with
that username/password on your daughter's system.

They don't want to allow you to have servers....

Most broadband ISPs save SBC prohibit servers...
