hi everybody,
I have three win xp pro computers behind a linksys router
on a broadband connection, one of them with a fresh
installation and no other software than windows update.
I can access all of my computers behind the router via
remote desktop without any trouble.
from the outside I can access one computer via remote
desktop and everything seems to work perfectly.
If I try to access the other computers, I can not connect,
even though I have used exactly the same settings as much
as I am aware.
firewall is disabled, or remote desktop is allowed
user account with administrator rights is used
tcp/ip connectivity is ok
I am running out of ideas and would appreciate a hint!
thank you so much - clau

I could finally make it work.
I did shut down all computers - the computer for remote
desktop being the first restarted.
It worked on the first try.
happy weekend. clau

Article Q306759 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base tells you how to change
the listening port for Reote Desktop so you can access any of the
computers from outsise the router without having to turn them off or
disable the firewall.

You merely give two of the machine diferent listening ports then
accesss them by entering the public IP and listening port in the
connetion box. I.e... xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:yyyy wher X is the IP and y is
the port number.
