Bought 3 new notebook PC's, 1 toshiba, 2 HP, all w/ XP
Home. I easily established internet connections with all,
but none of them will connect to my remote "terminal
server" via remote desktop connection. It has nothing to
do with the server accepting login, or too many people
accessing, I can take any number of our existing systems
to the remote server, but not these three notebooks. What
setting am I missing?

terminal server and remote desktop connection is two thing
you cant use remote desktop connection on terminal server
(i tried, but if yes please tell me too i want to learn
thank you) the 3 notebook have to get the terminal
service client to connect to the terminal server. and can
any one tell me how to use the RDC from WAN not LAN?

If the computer that you want to connect to has a public
IP address, you can access it from the WAN, however if
the client has a private/NAT address, you will need to
establish a vpn first to either the router or server in
front of the client before using RDC

Hi Danny,
Have you cross checked the remote access client settings with one that
works?
Can you give more details on whatever problems you're having with these 3
machines please eg error messages etc
Are the existing systems using xp home too?
Have you turned off firewalls while you troubleshoot? Have you checked
firewall settings on the gateway if present?

Sorry, forgot. Check that Remote Access Connection Manager service is
started in your services list.
