I was told that MS Remote Desktop Connection program and
MS Netmeeting were compatable programs for interface
between two computers. I have a desktop computer running
XP with the Remote Desktop Connection application on it
and an IBM Think Pad 600 running Windows Professional
2000 with the Netmeeting application on it. I want to
access my desktop computer and all its functionality from
my laptop, remotely. Basically, I want to access my
desktop computer directly from my laptop access all its
files and use the desktop computer as my access to the
internet. I was told that I didn't need to go over the
Internet but could dial directly into my computer over a
regular phone line. Are they compatable and is dialing
over a 64K line possible to access my desktop for these
purposes?

Thanks ini advance for the reply

What you need is the client portion of Remote Desktop. You can get it
here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdclientdl.asp

Install msrdpcli.exe on your Windows 2000 laptop. This will allow you to
use Remote Desktop Connection from your laptop and open a terminal
session on your desktop. I use this all the time at work as it saves me
many walking miles since I can access my workstation from any PC, even
Windows 9x machines.
