G'day all,
stumped here...everytime I try to connect to my XP Pro machine (from another
XP Pro box, both SP 2) using Remote Desktop Connection, the 'server' (the box
I'm trying to connect *to*) crashes and gives me this on it's lovely blue
screen:
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBF93E2A0, 0xF223658, 0x00000000)
win32k.sys - Address BF93E2A0 base at BF800000, DateStamp 422511a2
This happens 100% of the time, just after I login to the remote machine (the
one that crashes).
I can find no further information about the error, nothing in event viewer
or any logs...but I also don't know the first thing about checking memory
dump files so I have not checked there.
A little more info (not sure if it's useful?):
- on the machine that crashes, I am able to use Remote Desktop Connection as
a 'client' to connect to other machines.
- I have tried using several different boxes to connect to this 'server'
that crashes; all attempts have produced identical results.
I experience no other major issues with this PC, I can't even remember the
last time it crashed except for the RDC issues here. The reason I mention
this is because this Stop Code seems to be related to a RAM problem (from
various other research), though I certainly don't think that's the case here.
The only useful thing I dug up while researching this was a potential issue
with SMS (which I know very little about); I am on a corporate network that
*does* use SMS.
Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm pulling my hair out over this one!
Cheers,
