Remote Desktop only allows 1 interactive session at a time... Thus,
when you connect remotely, the console is locked...

Hi,

When we use Remote Desktop (not Remote Assitance) the remote machines
screen goes blank/black and they can not see what we are doing.

Does anyone know why this is happening or how we can fix it?

That's normal.

fix it?

.

Don't feel bad I have the same issue and I am also
looking for the answer. The other people who are useless
should keep their smart comments to themselves.

ummmm....that's not a smartass answer. It's the truth. With Remote
Desktop, the machine being remotely controlled either locks or blanks the
screen. That's normal. With Remote Assistance, both users (local and
remote) can see the screen at the same time. That's also normal.

If I'm understanding your post correctly, it's not that
the monitor of the computer that's being goes blank. The
person who is connected remotely sees a blank screen every
few minutes, right?

That's the problem one of my users is having... Along
with getting some really poor performance. Performance is
so bad, that it seems like the host machine freezes every
15 seconds... I'm working on the problem right now, and
if I figure it out, I'll let you know. I was just here
looking for tips, but it seems that most posts aren't very
technical or helpful.

Umm, Dumbass. Microsoft allows only one interavtive user on XP at a
time. This is by design. So, Whether you like it or not. "This is
normal" is the corerect answer.

For the OP. Like stated above. This is normal and by desing. You can
use Netmeeting ( Start>run. type conf hit <Enter> ) or download one of
the free VNC programs lie TinyVNC. Search Goolge.
