when i logon to remote desktop, the client displays a 16-bit video driver.
there is no 32-bit available. both computers support 32-bit, however.

is there a way to display 32 bits or is 16 bits the limit?

What version of the client are you using?

it's 6.0.6000.16386

Search using Google!

Visual improvements
Remote Desktop Connection now supports 32-bit color and font smoothing.

To enable 32-bit color, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click Communication,
and then click Remote Desktop Connection.
2. Click Options, click the Display tab, and then click Highest Quality (32
bit) in the Colors list.

Is that methodology not working for you?
(According to the article - it may not for pre-Vista/Windows 2008 systems.)

Right, I tried that, but no luck.

Could it be because the client is 1024x768 and the other machine is
1680x1050? I wondered if it could handle it, but it works fine, except for
the 32-bit. Remote Desktop is a nice product.

I'm having this exact problem.

The software I'm using won't run on anything but 32bit true color.

The highest setting I can get once connected it 16 bit.

Did anyone find a solution to this problem ?

Thanks

Bill

Do you have the latest version? Mine is 6.0. Did you check the Remote
Desktop Connection setting in Options>Display>Highest Quality that Shenan
suggested? It didn't help me, but my monitors are pretty mismatched and I
suspect that to be my problem. Other than that, I haven't heard of anything
else.
