Remote Desktop causes laptop to hang

Hi,
I use VPN to access my office network. Once in the network, I am able to telnet UNIX boxes and run certain applications.
However, when I try accessing my office PC using RD, it just freezes after I login to my PC and see the currently open window.

Is there any configuration I can tweak to make it work?

I have a thread called "Remote Windows XP Freezing". I have listed many
details about the condition. Is this the same problem you are experiencing.
If so, this is not a new thing nor is it understood. I am seeking a
fix/solution.
