Learned friends.
Was wandering if anyone has done some network monitoring and optimisation
with remote desktop, and have worked out what the minimum bandwidth
requirements/throughput are for remote desktop.
I kow there are a kwillion variables such as screen settings, sounds, screen
motion etc, but I am thinking along the lines of a straight forward session
where a couple of admin windows are open, screen updates are average (ie. not
playing Quake), no sound or other optional requirements.
I would be happy with 256 colours etc. Just enough to get the job done.
I am asking this, as I am considering the possibility of deploying the
option to our support staff using their GPRS connectivity with mobile
phones.. But this would work only if the bandwidth usage/throughput (minimum
useful) fits within the pipe supplied by GPRS.
thanks for any help and time.
