My remote desktop has suddenly stopped working. I can connect to the
server with checkpoint, but not to my work PC. Also, I can't
auto-update internally on any programs, as I get a hang, a "socket
error" or a message saying I am not connected to the internet (I am).
Browsing and email is fine, and I checked for spyware and viruses with
a clean bill.

Can you ping the remote desktop? If yes, can you telnet port 3389?

Thanks so much for replying. It's not my firewall. I tried it with and
without two different ones and no difference, Also I can access from
the other ancient computer have, however it's too slow to work on. I
did manage to find out my nephew had "tweaked" a coupl of Remote Access
network settings under My Computer - Computer Management - Services, to
try to play an online gAME. However he "dunno" which ones he
changed.
